Most products that we buy include many toxic chemicals. The FDA has lists upon lists of make-up companies that contain heavy metals like mercury, lead and arsenic.
The combination of many chemicals in one or more products makes the ill effects even worse. No need to throw out your entire collection. When something runs out replace it with a better option and over the next year your life will become less toxic.
I am also a Beauty Counter Consultant because they make safe beauty products. Check out their NEVER LIST to see what you can avoid when shopping with me. Try to avoid the following
Parabens: have an estrogen mimicking effect that is associated with increased risk of breast cancer.
Phthalates: They are found in personal care products. They are known to be endocrine disruptors and have been linked to increase breast cancer, early breast development in girls, and reproductive birth defects in males and females.
Heavy Metals: Lead acetate, chromium, thimerosal, hydrogenated cotton seed oil, sodium hexametaphosphate. Note: products that contain contaminant metals will not list them on ingredient labels
Toluene: you may see it on labels as methylbenzene, phenyl methane, benzene, and toluol. All are harmful solvents. They are associated with respiratory issues, nausea and skin irritation.
